Museum Education Intern
Plimouth Plantation
Summer 2018

During my summer internship, I assisted in preparing, developing, and executing educational curricula for children and teenagers who visited the museum’s summer camp. As an intern, I engaged directly with the children enrolled in the summer camp programming, which comprised indoor and outdoor play activities at the museum’s main campus, the Plimoth Grist Mill, and downtown Plymouth.

For my summer project with Plimoth Plantation, I applied the academic knowledge I gained in education, museum education, history, and culture while working with a museum educator. With the help of a living historian, I learned how to plan, develop, and implement Plimoth Plantation’s museum education programs, including their popular Wampanoag and Colonial Summer Camps, into a new virtual interactive program that met the state of Massachusetts social science requirements.

Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts. It offers exciting education programs that provide participants with a unique way to learn about the 17th century, Wampanoag history and culture, and the Plimoth Colony in the 1620s. As a summer intern, I had the opportunity to contribute to these programs and help children and teenagers engage with history enjoyably and educationally.
